There are two kinds of polo on bikes. We play hardcourt bike polo, using "Little Beirut" rules tailored to DC.

To play, just show up on Thursday with a bike, preferably one you don't mind getting dinged up. We have mallets, and everyone is welcome.

Basic rules:

• Don't be a dick.
• You can only score with the ends of your mallet head.
• If your foot touches the ground, ride immediately to center court and tap the wall before playing on.
• Some contact is allowed: mallet to mallet, bike to bike, body to body.
• No t-boning, no contact with hands, don't throw your mallet. This may be the bush league but don't play like it.
• See rule #1.

This past weekend was the 3rd Annual East Side Polo Invitational, which we hosted in DC for the first time. Teams representing DC, Philly, New York, Ottawa, Chicago, Richmond, Milwaukee, Jersey and as far away as Madison all manned the fuck up and played some incredible games of fast and brutal polo.
